Paul Allen talks about a speech by Alan Hall regarding the 5 C’s of Hiring. I totally agree with the list and looking back now, I’d like to think that I was hired because the management team viewed some of those Cs in me. If not, at the very least I now have a benchmark of what to strive toward in areas that may be slightly lacking. With the recent performance development system that’s been implemented by our human resources department it would be excellent too if this list was integrated into the overall grading or evaluation of an employee.

A specific range of skill, knowledge, or ability.
A talent or ability that has potential for development or use.
Capable of existing or performing in harmonious, agreeable, or congenial combination with another or others
Moral or ethical strength
The state of being bound emotionally or intellectually to a course of action
