Dr. Ann Weaver Hart started work as Temple University’s ninth president and first female president. I think the timing of her appointment is perfect as it comes at a time when so much change is happening at the university. It’s hard to walk around campus and not notice something new – new buildings, new coaches, new malls and even revamped side walks on Broadstreet. One such change occurs later this summer when The Edge at Avenue North will open and provide student housing for 800 students and a retail complex with a 7 plex cinema. Rumor has it that the 7-11 located on campus makes more money than other locations. Not only is change helping businesses thrive but it also seems to be positively affecting the perception of the university. In her words on the Office of the President site, “Temple’s advancements in academics, research, faculty recruitment and residential campus life are being noticed nationwide. We are in an exciting period of tremendous transformation.”
