Plus Addressing

I just found out that our e-mail system supports plus addressing. Very cool! Some mail servers allow you to append a word or tag to the end of your e-mail address for the purpose of filtering. For example, if you had an e-mail address on an mail system that supported plus addressing you could setup a local filter for messages from Microsoft by creating an address of [email protected] and distribute that e-mail address to all Microsoft type listservs. So the next time you receive a message from that Microsoft listserv, it should be passed through the local filters you setup.

(Note: Validation on various online subscription forms may flag an email address of the form [email protected] as being an invalid e-mail address.)
